My mother was able to get me into the tunnel where the players were lining up.
Pele was there, and it was a different world, different era.
He was able to get the ball, sign it for us, and I took some pictures with him.
And then I've had the ball since.
APPRAISER: Amazing, and, uh, this was at the Meadowlands.
GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: I was at the game, too.
How about that?
Pele's, international icon.
The Cosmos were a soccer team in New Jersey in 1970s, 1980s, part of the North American Soccer League.
And when Pele came to North America to play for the Cosmos, it was a huge deal.
It was, like, the biggest deal.
GUEST: Yeah.
APPRAISER: Pele signed a lot of stuff over the years.
The fact that it's not signed to you directly actually gives it more value.
GUEST: Oh.
APPRAISER: And today, a ball like this, vintage signature, $2,000 to $3,000.
GUEST: Wow, wow.
GUEST: (chuckles) Oh.
That's great.
APPRAISER: Yeah.
GUEST: It's good to know-- but you know what?
APPRAISER: Yeah.
GUSET: I'll never sell it.
APPRAISER: No...
GUEST: It's going to be with me for a long time.
And then with this guy.
APPRAISER: And then with you, right?
Beautiful piece.
